What is PLUS40?
PLUS40 is a national employment, training and advocacy service for all Australian’s aged 40 and over.
In the past, many corporations have downsized to meet staffing formulae that satisfy shareholder requirements, usually resulting in a younger, “assumed” more affordable, workforce. Only now are some corporations realising that they have downsized to the point of ‘dumb-sizing’ their companies. Many business failures are a result of the next generation of managers falling into the same traps that the previous generation had been through. The wisdom and corporate experience has been lost or at least diminished.
Labour and skills shortages are forecast to worsen and the general corporate perception of people over 40 is that they have exceeded their invisible ‘use by date’ in the marketplace. The wisdom and experience they offer is seriously undervalued.
PLUS40 have identified and harnessed the opportunity to up-skill and re-skill people over 40 to meet the employment needs of Australia. The key difference is PLUS40’s insight into the needs and issues faced by people over 40 in their search for employment. We not only understand the value they offer, but also their current life stage. Through peer support and a solid community network, PLUS40 will empower people over 40 to be more productive, more content and financially secure.

Our mission is to promote and empower the active employment and career development of the over 40’s age group to all levels of industry throughout Australia.
We will achieve our mission by:

- Creating re-employment opportunities
- Providing education, training, support and personal development
- Creating a community based network enabling emotional, grass roots support
- Offering advocacy, experience, wisdom and commitment, to employers, workmates and the community.
